A small volume of 280 store cattle was penned at Taranaki last Wednesday. R3 steers around 530kg made similar money to prime cattle at $2.79-$2.85/kg, and 463-482kg heifers $2.55/kg to $2.68/kg. The top end of R2 steers strengthened to $3.02-$3.04/kg, while second cuts held at around $2.70-$2.76/kg. Mixed-age empty Angus cows, 412-480kg, earned $1.70-$1.80/kg.
