The sun was shining on Mystery Creek as visitors poured into the annual farming event.

Traffic was slow from Hamilton to the site and visitors might have to put aside an hour to get there.

Fieldays chief executive Peter Nation said he expected 130,000 to attend this year’s event.

With 1487 sites it was the biggest Fieldays yet.

Forty countries were represented with nine of them including China, Korea and the United Kingdom exhibiting.

Later this morning Nation, along with Health Minister Jonathan Coleman and Primary Industries Minister Nathan Guy would open the health hub.

Nation said the hub helped Fieldays “align with the challenges of agriculture”.

“Health is important. Wellbeing is important.”

Rural people were often isolated and were not as good at getting their health checked regularly, he said.

The hub housed 30 exhibitors.
