A hands-on farmer and experienced business woman, Crowley-Hughes and husband Peter Hughes own seven farms in Southland and Otago, which milk 5000 cows producing more than two million kg of milksolids (MS)/year. She is a director of five businesses and has been a member of DWN since 1998. In 2011 she won the organisation’s Celebrate You Award (Dairy Exporter, June 2011, page 140).

Judd 50:50 sharemilks 700 cows for Meridian Energy with her husband Ian.  The couple are originally from Waikato. She has been a member of DWN since its inception and in 2005 she helped establish the North Otago/South Canterbury regional group, of which she is still convenor.

DWN chair Michelle Wilson said the two women brought grassroots knowledge, empathy for dairying women and strong business and governance skills to the board.
