A King Country clearance of Wiltshire ewes and ewe lambs grossed over $900,000, with a top price of $425 for two-tooth ewes.
The flock of Moerangi Wiltshires from Shabor Farm, near Kawhia, was dispersed in the yards at Te Kuiti on February 10 in about 30 lots and run-outs that took PGG Wrightson agents 90 minutes to sell.
A handful of online bidders were successful in the face of strong competition along the rails.
A majority of the two-tooths sold in the range $385 to $425, four-tooth ewes had a top of $405 and a range from $255 upwards.
Six-tooth ewes reached $342 and the rest sold between $205 and $325.
Four-year ewes sold between $175 and $270 and five-year-olds $172 to $242.
The tops of the 1000 ewe lambs offered were $258 to $262, while the second line was $140 to $198 and lesser types good buying at $80 to $135.
The biggest single purchase was $63,420 for 151 two-tooths at $420, followed by $60,750 for 150 four-tooths at $405 and $54,510 for 237 five-year-olds at $230.
Several purchase commitments were in the $30,000 to $40,000 range.
Fewer than 20 two-tooth rams were offered as a buyer’s pick from a pen of five and the top price was $510, followed by one at $460, two at $420 and two at $400.
No sheep were going back to the farm and buyers had to arrange transport to pick up from the yards.
