There have been proportionally more hoggets shorn this season compared to recent years, PGG Wrightson's Dave Burridge said, adding most lots that were sold in the sale will be destined for prompt scouring and shipping before the Christmas break.

The crossbred full length, hogget wool and second shear fleece wool were generally unchanged compared to the November 8 sale, while crossbred oddments were 2% dearer with the better coloured ones most affected.

Mid micron wool held firm despite a weaker market in Australia and the passed and withdrawn rate for this latest sale was 17%. The next sale is due December 6.
