New Zealand Farmers Livestock penned a slightly increased yarding of 540 head at Frankton last Wednesday.
A consignment of hill country Hereford-cross and Angus-cross heifers were offered and Angus-cross, 287kg, strengthened to $2.47/kg, with 308kg, $2.66/kg. Hereford-Friesian, 331-356kg, improved to $2.53-$2.55/kg, as did Hereford-dairy, 304-307kg, up to $2.30-$2.38/kg.
R1 bull buyers had strict budgets in mind and $595-$660, $2.30-$2.37/kg was common ground for most 252-285kg, though eight Angus-Hereford at 308kg pushed to $780, $2.53/kg.
Autumn-born weaner cattle sold well and both heifers and bulls, 100kg plus, mostly traded at $425-$440. Read more in your LivestockEye.
