In 1992 the McDonnell family converted the sprawling flats of Ewing Farm, five kilometres south of Waihola and three years later followed with Haddington Farm. A neighbouring farm and later a smaller block expanded the Ewing Farm to 205ha and Haddington to 249ha. Now they are being offered for sale as separate farms or one large unit, with a 119ha runoff nearby.
Today, Tony McDonnell is a hands-on operator with a team of staff on Ewing Farm, while a sharemilker runs the adjoining Haddington Farm.
