Climate change is a hot topic in New Zealand agriculture, with the sector facing risks from both the changing climate as well as through efforts to reduce emissions.

So how do farmers adapt and plan for the future?

Westpac head of agribusiness Tim Henshaw will host a panel discussion with Professor Anita Wreford, Lincoln University – Agribusiness & Economics Research Unit, Jo Sheridan, Owl Farm Demonstration Manager, and Agricultural Economist Phil Journeaux on June 8.

Together they will discuss findings from The Westpac NZ Agribusiness Climate Change Report, including what resilience, adaptation and transition options are available to the sector.

Other topics to be discussed include: the risks and opportunities arising from climate change for New Zealand agribusinesses; practical on-farm changes that you can implement to build resilience to climate change; emissions management options and relative profitability; and how to understand the financial impact proposed emissions pricing may have on your business.

The Westpac Smarts Webinar, which runs from 12.30pm-1.1.5pm, includes a Q&A session. Registration is available on Westpac’s website.
