Some farmers’ spark for the industry might be dwindling these days with the onslaught of regulations and challenges presented as the world endeavours to reach its climate change goals. And in a world-first, New Zealand has led the climate action pack by introducing the first emissions reductions tax, specifically aimed at its food and fibre sector.

And while many in the industry acknowledge that change is necessary, they also believe the government’s current stance will do more damage than good and that industry leaders need to do more to get that message across.
