The demand for Recognised Seasonal Employer staff accommodation has prompted Seeka to build a major facility in Katikati, due to open in early July.

With capacity for 140 people on Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) visas, the Sharp Road property includes expansive lounge, kitchen and laundry facilities for staff and offers a significant increase in existing worker accommodation in the area.

Seeka CEO Michael Franks said given people are away for a significant time from their families, the company wants to ensure they have quality space to call home while working in New Zealand.

Named Tūranga Whetū, the facility will be opened with a formal blessing in July prior to RSE workers moving in.

“Our RSEs are highly valued and have been a huge help during the labour shortage throughout the kiwifruit harvest and more recently our orchard operations. It is important that we are providing quality living arrangements for their time with us and this project will deliver them a comfortable home away from home,” Franks said.
