A good turn-out of buyers met with an increased yarding of 815 cattle at Wellsford last Monday with results in line with quality and type. R2 Angus-Friesian steers, 383-508kg, returned $2.51-$2.60/kg while Hereford-Friesian above 350kg were mainly $2.62-$2.76/kg. Younger Hereford-Friesian heifers with quality, 248-273kg, were well-contested at $2.56-$2.66/kg. Future service Hereford and Red Devon bulls, 351-437kg, realised $1100-$1500. R1 cattle accounted for 40% of the offering and traditional steers, 245kg, returned $765. Top beef-dairy, 287-289kg, fetched $920-$930. Angus-cross heifers above 200kg made $500-$655.
