Redmond wins top prize

Mid Canterbury potato and wheat grower David Redmond has come out on top with his crop of Conquest wheat to take the winning spot for premium milling wheat in the United Wheatgrowers (UWG) annual grower competition.

The awards were announced at the grain and seed section dinner as part of the Federated Farmers national conference in Ashburton last week.

Darfield grower Harold Oakley took out the milling gristing section with his crop of CRWT151 with Harris Farms of Ashburton leading the way with Delphi in the soft biscuit section.

Wright Co of Sheffield won the feed wheat section with a crop of Wakanui and Barnett Partnership of Leeston the feed protein section with a crop of Einstein.
