UK enters product into public intervention

UK has joined other countries from the European Union in utilising the public intervention (PI) scheme for its skimmed milk powder.

SMP

For the week ending August 9, the UK offered 432 tonnes of skimmed milk powder (SMP) into the scheme.  An additional 145t of SMP from UK was also offered into Private Storage (PSA).  

Belgium offered 864t into PI, its biggest offering in the past three weeks but nothing was offered into PSA. Poland offered 280t of SMP into PI, a similar quantity as it has for the previous two weeks.

Following an offering of 1134t into the PI scheme over the previous three weeks, Lithuania halted any offerings for the week to August 9. 

A total of 4246t of SMP has been offered into the PI scheme over the previous 4 weeks, Belgium has accounted for 1800t of this.

SMP flowing into PSA for the week ending August 9 was mostly from Ireland offering 586t. There was a total of 994t offered into PSA for the week.

Germany continues to offer SMP into PSA with the second largest offering for the week at 216t. The UK continued to offer SMP into the PSA for the fourth week in a row. It was the highest offering over the past four weeks of 145t.

Butter

4136t of butter was offered into PSA for the week ended August 9.

The Netherlands was again the forerunner in these offerings with 2272t coming from this country alone.

Quantities of butter offered into PSA for the week also came from Ireland, Germany, Belgium, France the UK and Poland.
