Sam McIvor, who has been the chief executive of Beef + Lamb NZ for the past eight years, has resigned to take up the same role at OSPRI.
McIvor, who is also chief executive of the New Zealand Meat Board (NZMB), has worked for the organisation for 17 years, a contribution acknowledged by Beef + Lamb NZ (BLNZ) chair Kate Acland.
“We are delighted that Sam has chosen to continue with a role in the agriculture sector and are confident he will continue to make a positive impact in this position,” she said.
“The board will commence the search for a new chief executive in the coming weeks.”
McIvor will begin work at OSPRI in August.
He said he is honoured to have worked in and led the two organisations over two stints that, combined, equate to almost half his working career.
“The work BLNZ and the NZMB do is critical to the sector and throughout my time a standout feature has been the passion, capability and hard work of the staff to deliver value for farmers,” he said.
“This work, though, is not possible without relationships. Whether these be in the processing and exporting sector, the research, extension and wider agribusiness community, industry good or government, I’ve enjoyed immensely the camaraderie and challenges from addressing issues and opportunities together.”
His last day at BLNZ and the NZMB will be July 24.
