Plenty of trade on Futures market

Avatar photo
The beginning of the week has been busier than usual on the NZX Dairy Derivatives market.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

There have been 40 trades over the last two days, with all but one of those trades for whole milk powder (WMP). WMP futures prices have continued increasing, though only incrementally. The March and April futures contracts, as well as futures contracts between July and October, have increased by between US$10/t and US$30/t.

WMP futures prices are almost all just over US$2100/t. The March contract is currently priced at US$1995/t.

The other trade was for the March futures contract for anhydrous milkfat (AMF), which increased US$50/t. This prices it at US$3250/t, approximately the same as the average selling price achieved for AMF at the last GlobalDairyTrade event.

Volumes traded have varied considerably, with some trades as low as 5t and others for 200t. A total of 2917t has been traded over the last two days.
