Fonterra directors Brent Goldsack and Cathy Quinn are set to be re-elected this year if they clear the low hurdle of 50% voter approval online or by post.

Voting papers will be sent to shareholders from Monday, October 16 and voting will end on November 7, two days before the annual meeting in Methven, Canterbury.

Electionz returning officer Warwick Lampp said incumbent directors Goldsack and Quinn have not been challenged.

They were the only independently assessed candidates and no non-assessed shareholder candidates put themselves forward.

“As this is an uncontested director election, candidates must gain more than 50% support of votes cast to be elected to the board,” Lampp said.

Elections are required in two wards of the Fonterra Co-operative Council, Ward 3 Southern Northland and Ward 6 Piako.

No election is required in five wards, where only one nomination was received, being wards 4, Waikato West, 7 Waipa, 12 Central Plateau, 18 Wairarapa and 24 Eastern Southland.

Two candidates, Simon Couper and Shirley Trumper, have been elected to two positions on the directors’ remuneration committee.
